Simon Nadareishvili's 1934 illustration "This is White, This is Black" (originally titled "The Wisdom of the 'Socialist' Gospel") is a sharp political satire against the distortion of truth and the duplicity of Western social-democratic circles. The drawing depicts a skeptical worker and an orator holding contradictory boards (the black board reads "it is white," and the white one reads "it is black"), symbolically demonstrating the attempt of political forces to turn reality upside down with illogical rhetoric. The illustration ironically exposes how pseudo-peacekeeping preachings masked fascist aggression, and that confusing truth with falsehood only served the interests of the enemy.
