an independent country.

For example: 1935 Illustration Family Happiness A sharp satire of the Soviet bureaucratic system and political atmosphere. The family in the illustration cheerfully celebrates an event with music and dancing that looks like a wedding at first glance. However, the accompanying text reveals the real reason for the euphoria: Valodia's demotion from director to a railway station cashier. The plot ironically reflects the reality of the time: a high position was associated with great risk and danger, while a career demotion to a "quiet" job was seen as a relief and safety for the family. The artwork mocks the absurdity of people celebrating an escape from responsibility instead of success.

Family Happiness, 1935

View full collection

[1

post-580","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
